Your experience may be your greatest qualification
Our Peer Advocate workforce includes people with many different stories people in recovery; survivors of residential or day schools, human trafficking or domestic violence; Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ people; Veterans; people who have navigated grief, addiction, diabetes, disordered eating, criminal justice involvement and other difficult experiences.
You decide which experiences you are comfortable sharing in your professional profile. Guests use these profiles to choose someone whose background may reflect the reason they want to talk.
Work designed around real life
Peer roles are part time and online. Depending on program needs, Peers may work from home, around school, between other shifts or during mornings, evenings, overnight periods, weekends and holidays. Scheduled availability and reliability are essential.
We prepare and support you
TryCycle provides onboarding, listening-skills training, privacy and boundary education, crisis and self-harm protocols, mentorship, supervision and ongoing professional development. Police or Vulnerable Sector screening may be required depending on the role and population served.
A stepping stone, not a ceiling
The role provides paid private-sector experience, training and references that can strengthen a future resume. We hope many employees use the opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills and move into larger or full-time roles within TryCycle, within their communities or elsewhere.
